Latest News Campus Community Events Academic Innovation Alumni Athletics Maryville MPress --> Apple Distinguished Educator Announced Share Tweet Share Share Email Bob Cunningham, PhD, director of the occupational therapy program and associate professor of occupational therapy, has been named to the Apple Distinguished Educators Class of 2019. The Apple Distinguished Educators program recognizes K-12 and higher education pioneers who are using Apple technology to transform teaching and learning. These educators are leaders from around the world who help other educators rethink what’s possible with Apple technology to make learning deeply personal for every student. “I am proud of the work I’ve done to integrate the iPad into our campus community,” Cunningham said. “I helped teach other faculty members how to use the iPad and how to incorporate it into the classroom. I also helped students with physical disabilities access the iPad in new and different ways. By providing everybody with the same learning tool, we have created robust active learning spaces.” Through Maryville’s Digital World Program, every traditional undergraduate student and select graduate students receive a free iPad loaded with more than 75 learning apps designed to facilitate study in fields from the sciences to math, the humanities and many more. The program creates a faculty-student partnership that puts students at the center of their learning.
